Meet Simon

I'm Simon Thornberry, a London-based Operations Executive with a rich history of over 20 years in scaling technology companies. I currently provide consulting services to scaling B2B Tech Startups, I serve as a coach and advisor, and as a Fractional COO focusing on operational efficiency and team alignment.

My journey began at in Cape Town at a leading digital print, retouching and service company focused on high-quality imaging and printing solutions, where I managed operations across multiple departments for eight years. This role laid the foundation for my career, teaching me many of the intricacies of operational planning and management, and how to build hi-performing teams.

I then moved to London joining a global cybersecurity solutions provider as one of the first 50 employees. Over a 13-year tenure, I climbed the ranks from Sales Operations Manager to VP of Business Solutions and Enterprise Architecture. My roles were diverse but centred around driving digital transformation and aligning business objectives with technology solutions.

In 2021, I joined SaaS Martech startup which is an API-first data routing and optimisation platform. As COO, I focused on scaling the business and improving team cohesion. My role was pivotal in evolving the business operating model and implementing efficient, scalable business processes.

Currently, I'm self-employed providing consulting services and working with Founders, Investors, and Leaders in tech companies as an advisor and fractional COO. I am a member of the London COO Roundtable, a professional community for start-up and scale-up COOs.

My approach is uniquely tailored to individual organisations and their context, but it is grounded in proven strategies. I specialise in evolving operating models, implementing cross-functional digital transformation, and building effective, cohesive teams.

I hold a Bachelor of Commerce in Information Systems from the University of Cape Town, which has been instrumental in my tech-focused career.

I have trained as a High Performance Coach and work as a mentor to leaders in hi-growth, fast paced businesses.
